Artalpha Iasi Art Residency is focused on an intercultural exchange with international artists only from painting area. My name is Ioana Palamar and I am Assistant Lecturer at the George Enescu Fine Arts University and the organiser of this art residency. Together with my colleagues: Lecturer Zamfira Bîrzu, Lecturer Cristian Ungureanu, Lecturer Cristian Neagoe, Lecturer Mihai Tarasi, Lecturer Ioan Pricop and Assistant Lecturer Adrian Crîșmaru, Art critic Maria Bilașevschi and Events Organiser George Pânzaru will kindly support Artalpha Iasi Art Residency.
Known as The Cultural Capital of Romania, Iași is a symbol in Romanian history, is the second-largest city in Romania, after the national capital Bucharest, and the seat of Iași County. Located in the historical region of Moldavia, Iași has traditionally been one of the leading centres of Romanian social, cultural, academic and artistic life.
Iași is one of the most important education and research centres of the country and its social and cultural life revolves around: the Palace of Culture, the Vasile Alecsandri National Theater, the Moldova State Philharmonic, the Opera House, the Iași Athenaeum, the Botanical Garden , the Central University Library , the high quality cultural centres and festivals, an array of museums, memorial houses, religious and historical monuments.
The residency artists can make an online research by using the computers of the university and they also have access to the books of the library.
The main aim of Art Alpha Residency is to create various and complex events in Iasi, a cultural town with a lots of inspiration sources, to meet the local artists and the students from George Enescu Fine Arts University, to exchange ideas and to share experiences with them as for a future possible collaboration and to exhibit in Aparte Gallery which belongs to our university or in another gallery from Iasi.
The residency artists have the opportunity to exhibit in Aparte Gallery which belongs to George Enescu Fine Arts University. The students are often organising here various exhibitions, promoting their works, concepts.
Mihai Ursachi House of Culture offers a free working space. The working space is an exhibition space which offers an amazing opportunity to be almost all the time in touch with people and to create in a public space. The studio is located in the centre, near our university, in Copou Park, as both institutions: George Enescu Fine Arts University and Mihai Ursachi House of Culture are located next to each other, namely in Copou area. George Enescu Fine Arts University will provide them easels which will be brought in this working space. The artist will only have to bring canvases, paintbrushes, colours and other necessary materials. In this area there can be found bus and tram stations, small shops, coffee shops, supermarkets and restaurants.
Octav Bancila Art High School offers free accommodation to the artist.
The artist will also have three meals a day for free at the high school cafeteria.
The artist will be waited for at the airport by the organiser of this residency, he or she will be hosted in an flat and afterwards will be presented the studios of the university, the teachers and the students. The organiser will also present the most important sightseeings of Iasi town.
The artist must pay only for the flight ticket and for the taxi from the airport to the center of the town.

2. a short paragraph where the painter explains the concept of the artworks
3. an Europass CV written in English.
At the end of their project, the artist will have to:
1. make a short presentation in front of the students and teachers from George Enescu Fine Arts university, the aim of this presentation being the exchange of ideas in the visual arts area as for enriching the artistic experiences
2. to leave to our university one of his/her works.
